Counter Displays

Make Use of the Counter

The counter is a key area to place smaller impulse items to spur more purchases. Reserve this space for items with high margin and high volume. Place items strategically along the counter, but avoid overcrowding the surface.

Store Layouts

Maximize Floor Space

Your entire store cost money and you need to lay out your selling area where it generates the greatest return on investment. High traffic areas need to show as much product as possible without looking cluttered. The low traffic areas of your store need to entice your customers to view that area of the store. The use of lighting and color can define different areas and provide attractive presentations. See the below links for layout insights.

Visual Merchandising

Draw Their Attention

Help items sell by creating eye-catching displays. A large, standalone setup is more impactful visually and will drive sales. Just avoid crowding different merchandise together so customers can see the single item you most want to sell.

Place key products near the door and checkout area, where most of the impulse decisions are made. Remember: People read and view items left to right, top to bottom. Place the most important merchandise on the top left-hand side of your shelving.

Make any signs clear and easy to read so customers easily understand the offer. All related signs — inside and out — should communicate a single, clear message to drive sales.

Plan-O-Grams

Find the Right Setup

As a small-business owner, you're constantly seeking ways to increase sales. One place you could look for improvements is in shelving. If items aren't selling and you don't know why, it could be time to try a new layout for the products, an aisle or the store — depending on your situation. When you identify a layout that is successful, document it for future reference.

Use these plan-o-grams in your store or to generate your own concepts to increase sales.
